In Anastasia's mate, a rook or queen checkmates the king on the edge of the board. The square next to the king is blocked by its own piece, and the remaining escape squares are guarded by a knight.

Explanation

In this level, you can achieve Anastasia's mate in two moves. In many cases this can be forced with a decoy.

Examples

Black just played Qc1, threatening Qxf1#, but this was a mistake.
White can win with the decoy Qxh7+, forcing the king to recapture with Kxh7.
Now the h-file is open for the rook to deliver Anastasia's mate with Rh5#.

White can win with the decoy Qh8+!, forcing the king to capture the queen with Kxh8.
The king is also deflected away from protecting f8.
White can now deliver Anastasia's mate with Rxf8#.
